Drivers who pass their test after 10th September 2009 - are required to complete an additional 35 hours training to qualify for their CPC qualification before they are allowed to drive the LGV, this is called the "initial qualification"
Periodic training consists of 35 hours of approved training provide by an approved training provider. This training can be spread over time in blocks of 7 hours or more, and taken at any time in the qualifying period. There is a great deal of flexibility on how this can be achieved, please Contact Us for more details on how we can fit your training into your schedule.
The course covers three main areas:
There is no pass or fail to this course merely a certificate of attendance. The training is recorded by a government department (part of the DSA). The DVLA automatically issues a Driver Qualification Card (DQC) once the driver has
qualified, this must be carried by the driver.
Driving a vehicle or allowing a vehicle to be driven by a driver without a CPC will result in a maximum fine of £1,000 for either offence. Companies must have checks in place for their drivers.
It will also be an offence to not be able to produce a CPC qualification card at the roadside. Enforcement will be the same as for the appropriate driving licence.
