A 180° excavators or backhoes are an interesting invention because it is actually combines three pieces of construction equipment combined into one unit.

The 3 main elements are, tractor, loader and backhoe, and all are suited to a particular sort of work. On a typical site, the backhoe operator usually uses all three components to get the job done.

180° excavators, also known as backhoe loaders or backhoes, are now widely used through the building and grounds maintenance industry.

If you were to ask any large group of people what they could tell you about 180° excavators (backhoe loaders), a lot of them wouldn't know what you were talking about. But if you showed them a picture of one, almost everybody would understand what you meant.

They are used for a huge variety of different jobs and are often the only piece of heavy equipment on a construction site. But their size, weight and power make it imperative that these machines are operated accredited personnel who have successfully completed an appropriate 180° excavator training course. The difficulty is finding the staff with the appropriate qualifications.

360º Excavators

Excavators come in a wide variety of sizes. 360º Excavators are distinguished by their ability to revolve through a full 360º degrees. The smaller excavators are called a mini-excavator or compact excavator and can access small paths as narrow as 70cm (28inches). Others can be very large weighing many tonnes.

Most are tracked and capable of traversing soft ground due to their low ground pressure. However like all modern machinery they require proper training tom operate safely and efficiently.
